Being a senior is a huge milestone, and an senior session is a great way to celebrate your achievement! Let's help you plan for our session!
Your Outfits
The biggest rule is simple: wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. If you feel good, it shows!
Choose colors that live in the same family and styles that feel like they belong together.
Neutrals and muted tones photograph beautifully, but you can still add personality! Try to avoid large bold patterns or bright neon colors since they can be distracting in photos. Unless it's your college colors, of course!!
Keep accessories simple and intentional.
Mix textures like denim, knit, linen, or chiffon to add depth.
Tips for Creating Your Look
For a Casual Look
You cannot go wrong with jeans and a nice top. It works almost anywhere and feels relaxed and natural. You can always dress it up a bit with shoes or accessories.
For a Dressier Look
Flowy dresses and skirts are beautiful in photos because they move. A button down paired with dress pants is timeless and clean. The key is choosing something that feels like you, just slightly elevated.
Comfort Is Key
We will be walking, sitting, maybe twirling and running around a little! Make sure you can move easily. If you choose a shorter dress, just keep in mind it might limit certain poses. For the girls who are wearing heels, I recommend bringing another pair of comfy walking shoes that are easy to slip on and off, as we'll most likely be walking around to different locations!
I always suggest trying everything on ahead of time. Make sure you both feel good in what you are wearing!
Layers
Layers are a great way to add dimension and variety without a full outfit change. Jackets, cardigans, scarves, or even a simple sweater can completely change the feel of a photo.
Your Moodboard & Inspiration
Take a look at the images you have saved and loved! Do you notice a pattern?
If you are drawn to light, flowy, whimsical photos, lean into pieces that move. If you love city vibes and clean lines, go for something more structured and polished. Let your inspiration guide you, then make it your own!
Colors the Camera Loves
These tones photograph beautifully and always feel timeless:
White
Black
Beige
Stone
Navy blue
Sage
Forest green
Soft, earthy colors tend to shine on camera.
Props
Your senior photos should feel like YOU! I will always encourage my grads to bring along some props that reflect their extracurricular, hobbies, or favorite things. They bring so much of your personality into the image, and make reflecting on these photos so much more fun for future you. For example- for my own senior photos, I wore my rollerskates for some photos, and had a photo op at Dunkin Donuts drive through- because those were some of my favorite things at the time! The sky is the limit here! Some ideas:
- College merch (hat, sweatshirt, flag, stoles)
- Instrument (guitar, violin, etc.)
- Sports gear (ball, cleats, dance shoes)
- Flowers or a bouquet
- Skateboard, bike, rollerskates
- Books or textbooks
- Camera / Polaroid
- Car
- Pets
Closing
Just be yourself and don't worry about posing- That's my job to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera! Just show up, be yourself, and let's have some fun!
